Milk of Lime

Milk of lime, also known as lime slurry or calcium hydroxide suspension, is commonly used for waste water and sewage treatment by Councils and Municipalities as well as commercial industries to treat water for removal of heavy metals and increase pH levels prior to release into the environment. Other industries include beverage manufacturers, construction, chemical manufacture and agriculture applications.

Milk of lime is manufactured by mixing powdered hydrated lime with water to create a stable suspension.  The resulting product is highly reactive and used for: pH adjustment, flocculation in wastewater treatment, soil stabilisation, and as a chemical reactant in various industrial processes.

Micronised Minerals Australia commissioned a Milk of Lime blending plant at the East Arm facility in 2024. The product can be manufactured as 5 - 35% w/w and can be delivered in 20,000 litre bulk ISO containers or 1000 litre IBC containers.
